Overview
This Finance Analyst role sits at the center of the organization’s finance function, balancing accounting responsibilities with financial planning and analysis. You will own key month-end close activities to ensure accurate, timely reporting, and you will build and maintain financial models used for forecasting, budgeting, and investment decisions.
You’ll partner closely with leadership across Clinical, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Go-to-Market to explain revenue and margin drivers and contribute to strategic finance work.
Responsibilities
Build financial models and forecasts
- Build and maintain core financial models, including the operating model that connects revenue, clinician cost, and margin to the three financial statements
- Develop driver-based revenue and margin models covering contract pricing, clinician capacity and utilization, payer mix, and state-level economics
- Own the annual budget and rolling forecast process in partnership with department leaders and the Sr. Director of Finance
- Run scenario and sensitivity analyses to show leadership ranges of outcomes and what moves them
- Model new districts, markets, payer contracts, and major investments, including cost-benefit and ROI analysis
- Support board and investor reporting with accurate, well-documented model outputs
- Keep models auditable and easy to use, including clear structure, documented assumptions, version control, and integrity checks
Own the month-end close
- Run the close process end to end: maintain the close calendar and checklist, set deadlines with contributors, and deliver on a predictable schedule
- Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, deferrals, depreciation and amortization, and recurring and adjusting entries, for review by the Sr. Director of Finance
- Prepare month-end accruals for clinician compensation, payroll-related costs, and vendor expenses
- Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and clearing accounts, and keep balance sheet reconciliations current and supported
- Tie subledgers and operational systems (billing and claims data, payroll, expense tools) to the general ledger and investigate and resolve differences
- Produce monthly financial statements and a close package, with clear written explanations of what changed and why
- Improve the close each month by documenting processes, tightening controls, and automating manual steps
Revenue and receivables accounting
- Support revenue recognition across district contracts and insurance reimbursement, including contractual adjustments, collectability estimates, and deferred revenue
- Track AR and AR aging, and reconcile billing-system balances to the GL
- Partner with Revenue Cycle and Operations to resolve billing, cash application, and payment-posting discrepancies that affect the books
Analysis and business partnering
- Perform monthly budget-to-actual and variance analysis to highlight risks and opportunities
- Partner with department leaders across Clinical, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Go-to-Market to translate revenue, cost, and margin drivers into clear recommendations
- Analyze unit economics, such as cost per session versus revenue by state, contract, and payer
- Build and maintain recurring reports and KPI tracking on revenue, gross margin, and spend
- Use BI tools and AI-assisted analysis, alongside Excel, to answer questions quickly and verify numbers against source systems before decisions
Audit, tax, and compliance
- Prepare schedules and support annual audits, tax filings, and diligence requests
- Maintain clear documentation and audit trails
- Help develop accounting policies and internal controls that scale as the organization grows
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a degree in finance or a related field with substantial accounting coursework; candidates without an accounting degree must have significant hands-on accounting experience
- 2–4 years of accounting or finance experience, including hands-on responsibility for month-end close activities and exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or financial planning
- Demonstrated financial modeling experience, including building or significantly maintaining models such as an operating model, budget, forecast, or driver-based revenue model, and being able to explain how they work

- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, conditional aggregation, and well-structured, auditable models
- Hands-on experience with a modern GL/accounting system (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Curiosity about the business and comfort partnering with non-finance stakeholders, with clear written and verbal communication to explain results to non-finance colleagues
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities independently in a remote setting
