Finance Assistant

Overview

The Transportation Consultancy Finance team supports consultancy frameworks within the transportation sector. The role works closely with project and commercial teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

This position supports the Finance Manager with financial administration and controls, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately in line with department and organizational procedures.

The role is remote, with the option to work from a main office (such as St Marys Axe, London). This is a part-time role working over 4 days (standard hours 8.30am to 5pm with a 30 minutes lunch break). Working days and hours are negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Raise sales invoices from certified Applications for Payment and maintain accurate invoicing records.
• Reconcile cash receipts against sales invoices and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain the OPW register and ensure supplier invoices are processed promptly.
• Process month-end accruals and goods receipts for OPW using approved timesheet information.
• Input cost journals in line with relevant procedures, ensuring appropriate approval and communication.
• Assist the Finance Manager with month-end processes to ensure accurate recording of costs.
• Manage purchase orders, monitoring values and uplifting as necessary in line with organizational procedures.
• Carry out other reasonable duties commensurate with the role as required.

Requirements

Essential

• Ability to work well under pressure, solving problems in a calm and rational manner, while acting with integrity.
• Clear written and oral communication skills.
• Team player with a positive “can do” attitude.
• Keen to learn and be challenged.

Desirable

• Experience using EnterpriseOne (E1) or other accountancy software.
• Previous experience in an accounting or accounts assistant position.
• Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, document and finance management systems).

Qualifications

Essential

• At least 9 GCSEs.
• Relevant A-Levels or BTech qualifications.

Desirable

• Studying towards an accountancy qualification.
• Future goal to start studying towards an accountancy qualification.
