Overview

This role supports the organization’s day-to-day finance and operations by taking ownership of key financial processes and helping manage the commercial and financial aspects of the business as it grows.

The position is hands-on and covers client contracting support, invoicing, expense management, accounts receivable, financial forecasting, and SR&ED.

You’ll work closely with Operations, RevOps, Delivery, and external accounting partners to ensure financial processes that support the business and client relationships run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including P&L analysis, actuals versus forecasts, and explanations of significant variances.
  • Manage client invoicing to ensure invoices are accurate, issued on time, and aligned with contracts, statements of work, and purchase orders.
  • Own accounts receivable, including tracking outstanding invoices, following up on payments, resolving discrepancies, and escalating overdue accounts when needed.
  • Partner with Sales to track client billing arrangements, contract changes, and issues that could delay invoicing or payment.
  • Own financial forecasting with the leadership group across revenue, costs, margins, and cash flow; keep forecasts accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor software and AI-related spending, understand how costs are changing, and help assess impacts on productivity and company sustainability.
  • Manage USD and CAD balances, monitor foreign exchange exposure, and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary conversion costs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the external accounting partner, resolving questions and ensuring outstanding items are followed through.
  • Coordinate the annual SR&ED process: work with engineers and external advisors to identify eligible work, gather documentation, and keep submissions on track.

How You’ll Work

  • Ensure processes connect cleanly between signed client agreements, issued invoices, and received payments—proactively tracking client accounts and resolving issues before they become larger problems.
  • Partner with leadership to understand financial performance, investigate discrepancies, challenge assumptions, and translate financial data into decision-ready insights.
  • Continuously improve processes by introducing better financial controls, simplifying reporting, automating manual tasks, and making information easier to access and understand.

Requirements

  • Experience in a hands-on finance, financial analyst, or accounting role, ideally within a technology, consulting, or professional services business.
  • Experience supporting client-facing financial processes, including contracts, invoicing, accounts receivable, and payment follow-ups.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, P&L reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Confidence working with financial data, spreadsheets, and accounting systems.
  • Experience analyzing costs, margins, and profitability, with the ability to identify meaningful trends and risks.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to keep multiple processes moving without constant oversight.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, internal teams, and external partners to resolve questions and keep work on track.
  • Interest in using technology, automation, and AI to make finance work more efficient.
  • Good judgement, curiosity, and a high degree of ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canadian SR&ED claims, foreign exchange management, or working with outsourced accounting firms (helpful, but not required).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Flexible hours with fully remote work.
  • Competitive salary and a health benefits package, including a Wellness spending account.
  • Dedicated learning budget for continuous learning.
  • Flexible paid vacation days and sick days.
  • Annual team retreat held in person once a year.
