Finance Project Manager

Overview

The organization is seeking a Project Manager to join its Finance department and own internal projects that help the finance function scale. This role focuses on process optimization, reporting automation, integrations with new providers, and coordination between finance and other parts of the business.

This is not a task-tracking role. The ideal candidate can analyze complex processes, identify what’s broken, propose solutions, and drive change through to measurable outcomes. Many processes will need to be built from scratch.

Responsibilities

Projects

• Own finance initiatives end to end (from idea through delivery).
• Lead internal finance projects: scope, plan, stakeholders, timeline, and execution.
• Drive integration of new providers and systems into finance workflows in collaboration with product, engineering, payments, and accounting.
• Manage project timelines by chasing dependencies across departments to meet committed delivery dates.
• Communicate project status, risks, and results clearly to department heads and senior leadership.

Processes

• Map existing finance and accounting processes to identify bottlenecks and manual work.
• Prioritize process improvements and fixes.
• Automate financial reporting to reduce time and effort required to produce reliable numbers.
• Build new processes from scratch where needed, keeping them lean and practical.
• Standardize how finance works with other teams, including requests, handoffs, approvals, and ownership.

Ownership and Issue Resolution

• Proactively identify problems in processes and data; determine root causes and implement solutions.
• Interpret stakeholder requests to understand what the business actually needs.
• Take responsibility for outcomes rather than passing tasks between colleagues.

Requirements

• 5+ years in project management, ideally in Finance or Operations.
• Solid understanding of finance and accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience with process automation, process optimization, and system integrations.
• Experience working across multiple departments and aligning stakeholders you don’t manage.
• Proven ability to run projects independently from idea to result (able to describe a project you owned and the change it created).
• Strong ownership and proactivity; takes responsibility for outcomes without waiting for instructions.
• Confident communication with senior leaders.
• Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach, balanced with pragmatism and a bias toward action.
• Comfort with a high pace, large workload, uncertainty, and shifting priorities.
• Strong English, written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Business Operations or Finance Operations roles.
• Experience in crypto, fintech, payments, or other fast-growing digital businesses.
• Experience integrating payment or financial service providers.
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment where processes were built from scratch.
