Finance Project Manager

Overview

The organization is seeking a Project Manager to join its Finance department. This role owns internal projects that help finance scale, including process optimization, reporting automation, new provider integrations, and cross-functional coordination between finance and the rest of the business.

This is not a task-tracking or meeting-only position. The ideal candidate can analyze complex processes, identify what’s broken, propose improvements, and drive changes through to measurable outcomes. Some workflows will need to be built from scratch.

The ideal background combines project management strength with a business operations mindset and a solid understanding of finance. Experience in Finance Operations (rather than only project management) is also welcome.

Responsibilities

Projects (own finance initiatives end to end)

• Lead internal finance projects from idea to result, including scope, planning, stakeholder management, timelines, and delivery.
• Drive integration of new providers and systems into finance workflows in collaboration with product, engineering, payments, and accounting.
• Own delivery timelines by tracking dependencies and following up across departments to meet committed dates.
• Provide clear communication to department heads and senior leadership, including project status, risks, and results.

Processes (make finance faster and more reliable)

• Map existing finance and accounting processes to find bottlenecks and manual work; prioritize improvements.
• Automate financial reporting to reduce time and effort required to produce reliable numbers.
• Build new processes from scratch where needed, keeping them lean, practical, and non-bureaucratic.
• Standardize finance collaboration with other teams, including requests, handoffs, approvals, and ownership.

Ownership (find problems before they find you)

• Proactively identify process and data issues, determine root causes, and deliver solutions rather than only raising tickets.
• Interpret stakeholder requests to understand the underlying business needs.
• Take responsibility for outcomes and avoid passing tasks between colleagues.

Requirements

• 5+ years in project management, ideally in Finance or Operations.
• Solid understanding of finance and accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience with process automation, process optimization, and system integrations.
• Experience working across multiple departments and aligning stakeholders you don’t manage.
• Proven ability to run projects independently from idea to result; able to describe a project you owned and the impact it created.
• Strong ownership and proactivity; comfortable taking responsibility for outcomes without waiting for instructions.
• Confident communication with senior leaders.
• Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach, balanced with pragmatism and minimal bureaucracy.
• Comfortable working in a high pace environment with a large workload, uncertainty, and shifting priorities.
• Strong English proficiency in both written and spoken communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Business Operations or Finance Operations roles.
• Experience in crypto, fintech, payments, or another fast-growing digital business.
• Experience integrating payment or financial service providers.
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment where processes were built from scratch.
