Overview
A Financial Analyst position is available to support end-to-end financial operations and internal controls within a Learning Technologies & Spaces team. This role reports to the Director of Finance and Administration and involves managing various financial transactions, preparing journal transfers, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with campus partners such as Contracts, Procurement, and Financial Services to ensure compliance and smooth transaction flow.
Responsibilities
- Process and maintain the unit’s financial transactions, including verifying PCard and Travel card activity, processing reimbursements, creating requisitions and contracts.
- Prepare and submit iJournals to correct account coding, move expenditures, and transfer funds.
- Submit invoices for payment processing and proactively resolve invoices placed on hold.
- Research discrepancies and provide accurate information to support resolution.
- Serve as the first-line resource for financial inquiries and requests, responding promptly and providing clear guidance.
- Investigate financial transactions, recommend best practices, and provide instructions to staff.
- Participate in annual budget creation and year-end forecasting.
- Distribute monthly expenditure statements to Budget Managers and reconcile monthly actuals to budget.
- Run and analyze financial reports, often pulling data from multiple systems.
- Collaborate with Budget Managers to ensure expenditures post to correct accounts and initiate adjustments when discrepancies are identified.
- Attend meetings to coordinate and communicate on financial operations, gather input, and stay current on process or policy updates.
- Participate in cross-training on core functions, including acting as the department IT contact for cell phone orders and service upgrades.
- Serve as backup Department Property Administrator as needed, coordinating tagging and recordkeeping for capital equipment and furniture.
- Support onboarding and access needs by setting up SUNet ID sponsorship for new hires and managing procurement-related access through Authority Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with financial systems, internet, and computer literacy.
- Understanding and ability to apply basic accounting skills and concepts.
- Strong communication skills, including preparing materials and effectively communicating with internal audiences and client groups.
- Basic project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected salary range for Stanford work locations: $96,834 – $101,647 per annum.
- Expected salary range for remote work locations: $58,101 – $91,482 per annum.
Location
- Position available for both Stanford work locations and remote work locations.
