Overview
A Helping Hand Renovation LLC is seeking a Financial Analyst to combine detailed spreadsheet work with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. This role helps stakeholders understand both what changed and why it may matter.
You may work across financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Success in this position depends on checking calculations, keeping assumptions clear, and presenting conclusions in a decision-supporting format.
Financial models and schedules should remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, including clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas to support review and reduce the likelihood of unnoticed errors.
Responsibilities
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Review source information and validate calculations before analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
Variance analysis should go beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower. Where information allows, identify operational or financial drivers behind movements and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Requirements
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind financial changes.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial reporting and financial analysis concepts.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $69,000-$77,000 per year
