Financial Analyst Intermediate

Overview

A Financial Analyst Intermediate is needed to join the Accounting Operations team within Financial Operations. This role supports various university departments with daily accounting and reporting tasks, including preparing financial reports, analyses, and reconciliations. The position is primarily remote but may require occasional travel to the office.

Responsibilities

• Review transactions to ensure compliance with contracts, gift agreements, governmental regulations, accounting standards, and university policies, including capitalization of capital assets and establishment of endowments
• Reconcile accounts and resolve accounting or documentation issues
• Prepare and present financial reports and analyses related to funds, departments, or project grants
• Analyze variances in management financial reports
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules to support external audits, donor requirements, and regulatory needs
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Respond to inquiries from schools, colleges, and units regarding accounting policies, procedures, and transaction processing
• Perform special projects, including ad-hoc reports and analyses

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting or equivalent education and experience; minimum GPA of 3.0
• Experience using spreadsheets, query tools, and software for data modeling and analysis
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Collaborative team player contributing to a positive work environment
• Experience with complex financial and administrative information systems (experience with Oracle PeopleSoft is beneficial)
• Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information and present it clearly to appropriate audiences

Additional Information

• This position may be underfilled at an Accountant Intermediate level depending on qualifications and experience; salary will be based accordingly
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
