Overview

This role supports stakeholders by combining spreadsheet-based financial analysis with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. Responsibilities may include updating forecasts, comparing actual results to budget, preparing management reports, and evaluating how changes in assumptions could affect expected outcomes.

Uncertainty is part of forecasting—assumptions should be visible and clearly documented rather than hidden inside calculations. You will also be expected to present alternative scenarios where a single estimate could create a false sense of precision.

Responsibilities

  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and items requiring follow-up.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Ensure financial models and schedules remain understandable after completion by using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Ability to learn company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
  • Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating sources, documenting limitations, and avoiding presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial analysis and financial modeling experience.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Variance analysis and financial reporting experience.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Experience working with financial statements.
  • Scenario analysis experience.
