Overview

This entry-level Financial Analyst role supports planning and informed decision-making through dependable financial analysis. You will maintain reports, compare actual results against expectations, and help communicate key performance drivers.

The work may shift between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Calculations should be verified, assumptions clearly stated, and conclusions presented to support decisions.

Variance analysis should go beyond identifying whether numbers are higher or lower—where possible, you will help identify operational or financial drivers and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.

Requirements

  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
