Overview

This role involves supporting the financial and procurement management of cloud-based platforms and software assets across AWS and Azure environments. The Financial Operations Analyst will collaborate with Finance, IT, Engineering, Procurement, Vendor Management, and customer stakeholders to manage cloud spend, oversee software license usage, improve financial visibility, and ensure cloud services and software subscriptions are acquired, renewed, and optimized according to customer needs. The ideal candidate combines strong financial and analytical skills with experience in cloud environments, vendor relationships, and software asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial operations for cloud platforms, including spend tracking, invoice validation, accrual support, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for cloud platforms, SaaS tools, and related technology services, including purchase requests, renewals, vendor quotes, and contract support.
  • Manage software license inventories and subscription records to ensure accurate allocation, utilization tracking, renewal planning, and compliance with policies.
  • Partner with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and technical teams to support vendor onboarding, contract renewals, pricing reviews, and cost optimization.
  • Analyze cloud usage and cost data to identify spending trends, anomalies, underutilized resources, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining reporting dashboards, recurring financial reports, and operational metrics related to cloud consumption and software licensing.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for cloud services, software subscriptions, and platform-related operating expenses.
  • Help establish and maintain governance practices for cloud purchasing, software asset management, tagging, cost allocation, and financial controls.
  • Review and reconcile vendor invoices, service consumption reports, and entitlement data to improve financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Track renewal dates, true-up periods, and license commitments to reduce risk of service interruption or unnecessary spend.
  • Provide recommendations to improve procurement workflows, license management, financial reporting, and vendor performance oversight.
  • Prepare summaries and presentations for leadership on cloud platform costs, software utilization, savings opportunities, and procurement status.
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to software licensing, vendor contracts, and cloud financial controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial operations, procurement, vendor management, software asset management, IT finance, or related analyst role.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based platforms, SaaS environments, or technology vendors in finance, procurement, or operations.
  • Experience procuring or administering cloud services, software subscriptions, or enterprise technology licenses.
  • Working knowledge of software license management, renewal cycles, usage tracking, and contract terms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience reviewing budgets, invoices, consumption data, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience creating reports, reconciliations, and data analysis models.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Finance, Procurement, IT, Legal, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate operational and financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Understanding of internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation practices related to purchasing and financial operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with FinOps, cloud cost management, showback/chargeback models, or cloud financial governance.
  • Experience with software asset management, IT asset management, or contract lifecycle management tools.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP platforms, or financial planning tools.
  • Experience with cost management and reporting tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, CloudHealth, Cloudability, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of SaaS metrics, vendor negotiations, or enterprise agreement management.
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, or license true-up exercises.
  • Relevant certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner, Certified Software Asset Manager, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or related credentials.
  • Experience in regulated, high-growth, or multi-vendor technology environments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
