Overview
This hands-on commercial finance role sits at the intersection of financial planning and business performance. You will build and maintain the organization’s financial model, coordinate budgets and forecasts, and work closely with business leaders to understand what drives revenue, costs, and profitability across divisions.
A key focus of the role is turning financial and operational data into clear, practical decisions—challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities, and helping teams improve productivity, allocate resources, and grow margins across the digital media business.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the financial model
- Create a model grounded in key revenue and cost drivers to support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning.
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting
- Work with business leaders to develop assumptions, challenge inputs, and translate plans into financial targets.
- Develop division P&Ls
- Establish consistent revenue and cost allocations, track profitability, and explain performance against budget and forecast.
- Analyze revenue performance
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across programmatic advertising, social media, direct sales, syndication, and an upcoming subscription offering.
- Measure productivity and efficiency
- Partner with team leaders to develop meaningful metrics linking costs and resources to output, quality, and commercial results.
- Turn analysis into action
- Provide clear reporting and practical recommendations to improve margins, allocate resources, and assess new initiatives.
- Connect financial and operational data
- Work with an external accounting team, third-party reporting tools, and internal stakeholders to keep models and reporting accurate, consistent, and useful.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or financial modelling, including ownership of budgets and forecasts.
- Experience building financial models from the ground up, linking revenue and cost assumptions to business performance (not just updating existing templates).
- Strong management reporting and profitability analysis skills, including business division P&Ls, cost allocations, and explaining variances against budget.
- A commercial mindset—experience translating financial and operational data into recommendations on productivity, spending, and growth.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with the ability to build models that are accurate, easy to maintain, and clear for others to use.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including confidence working with international teams, challenging assumptions, and presenting findings to non-finance colleagues.
- An independent, hands-on approach, comfortable bringing structure to incomplete data and managing competing priorities.
