Overview

This role focuses on product strategy for Financial Manager, a product that turns operational data (logged hours, planned capacity, and cost and billing rates sourced from Jira, Capacity Planner, and Timesheets) into project budgets, portfolio forecasts, CapEx/OpEx classifications, and earned-value metrics used by team leads and PMO leaders when presenting to CFOs and auditors.

The work connects operational truth from the planning and time-tracking workflow through to finance-grade outputs required by Controllers, FP&A leaders, and auditors—including audit-grade traceability from time entry through to the general ledger.

The organization is also addressing a common enterprise planning challenge: multiple planning systems often operate in parallel without speaking to one another (CFO budget/forecast layer, PMO execution layer, and the portfolio layer that decides what gets funded). This role helps make operational data usable across CPM forecasting, accounting workflows, and ERP systems, with software capitalization (ASC 350-40 and IAS 38) as a high-value entry point.

Responsibilities

  • Own product strategy and roadmap for Financial Manager’s budgeting, cost, and billing capabilities.
  • Conduct discovery with CFOs, FP&A leaders, Controllers, and finance business partners to understand budget authority, audit requirements, and what it takes to pass an audit.
  • Lead the capitalization and expense recognition product surface, including:
    • ASC 350-40 and IAS 38 workflows
    • Cap schedule generation
    • Journal entry export
    • Audit-grade traceability from time entry to the general ledger
  • Define how Financial Manager connects portfolio investment decisions to financial plans via:
    • Scenario modeling
    • Threshold governance
    • Continuous reforecasting
  • Drive integration strategy with ERP and CPM systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, Adaptive, Anaplan, and others) using a pragmatic approach that prioritizes batch uploads and existing API endpoints over bespoke direct integrations.
  • Develop AI feature strategy for Financial Manager by:
    • Identifying where AI addresses genuine, verifiable financial pain points
    • Managing quality, cost, and scalability tradeoffs of AI-assisted financial outputs
  • Partner closely with the integrations team and with finance-adjacent GSI partners (Big Four and boutique accounting firms) as a key distribution channel.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years in enterprise finance, FP&A, ERP implementation, financial systems consulting, or public accounting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of rolling forecasts, what CFOs ask for in the QBR, and what it means for financial outputs to pass the GL scrutiny required for auditability.
  • Experience with software capitalization workflows (ASC 350-40 / IAS 38), R&D cost classification, or audit preparation is strongly preferred (described as the single highest-value problem area in the roadmap).

Organizational fluency

  • Hands-on experience with budgeting large programs, including cost centers, headcount planning, CapEx vs. OpEx treatment, and the approval workflows that govern these processes.
  • Experience working at a Big Four firm, or close collaboration with auditors to understand what they require and what they challenge.
  • Ability to identify where the most financial governance pain resides within an enterprise organization and communicate credibly with those stakeholders.

Tooling familiarity

  • Experience working with or around enterprise finance or ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, or similar), including familiarity with where those systems fall short.
  • Conceptual understanding of integration tradeoffs, including data reshaping, when batch uploads are appropriate, and when direct API integration is warranted versus over-engineered.

AI proficiency – required, not optional

  • Genuine AI fluency is required. The candidate should already be using AI in daily work and have a clear view of what AI can and cannot do reliably in financial contexts.
  • Ability to explain practical AI tradeoffs in financial workflows, including:
    • Accuracy requirements
    • Token cost at scale
    • The risk of outputs that look correct but are not
    • Governance implications for AI-assisted journal entries or cap schedules
  • Ability to distinguish between AI that solves a measurable, genuine customer pain point versus AI that aggregates data without answering the customer’s actual question.
  • Awareness of how rapidly evolving AI models change integration and automation approaches, including what becomes simpler in an MCP/agent-first world versus what is currently complex.

Communication and complexity tolerance

  • Ability to sift through complex, opinionated finance workflows and produce clear, structured output for executive audiences.
  • Ability to write a concise one-pager that earns alignment without requiring meetings.
  • Collaborative working style with early sharing of plans and pivots.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing financial planning systems, modeling budget cycles for large programs, or guiding finance/FP&A teams through tooling transformations.
  • Experience as a finance consultant, ERP implementation lead, Big Four auditor who moved into business leadership, or enterprise solutions architect who has observed challenges connecting financial plans to portfolio execution.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Remote-first work environment.
  • Unlimited vacation in most locations.
  • Health, dental, vision, and savings plan benefits.
  • Perks include training reimbursement and WFH reimbursement.
  • Employee referral program.
  • Employee benefits and perks vary by location.

Location

  • Remote-first.
  • Optional in-person meet-ups and ability to travel to international offices.
  • Note: Submit your resume in English only.
