General Ledger Lead

Overview

A licensed cannabis wholesale organization is seeking a General Ledger Lead to supervise accounting operations and manage key financial processes. The company operates a technology-driven platform facilitating cannabis product distribution across multiple states, including California, New York, and Nevada.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of five accounting operations specialists
• Oversee month-end close processes and ensure accurate reconciliations
• Manage retailer accounts receivable reconciliations and credit confirmation processing
• Resolve escalated financial issues related to vendor payments and invoices
• Prepare the team for external audits with necessary documentation
• Monitor team performance against service-level agreements and quality standards
• Implement performance improvement plans as needed
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce administrative burden
• Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders on key financial matters
• Provide regular performance and operational updates to senior management

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in General Ledger accounting
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in accounting operations or finance
• Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables)
• Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks or Sage Intacct preferred
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience leading and mentoring remote teams
• Preferred experience in customer-facing roles within finance, accounting, or logistics

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000
