Overview
This position oversees the payroll center of expertise, including payroll administration and processing. The role is responsible for accurate and timely employee payments and reimbursements, proper payroll tax deposits and liabilities handling, timely and correct payroll tax return filings, and appropriate distribution of payroll transactions to the general ledger.
The position also supports compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. It assists with the design and implementation of payroll policies and processes, internal control compliance and oversight, and review and management of payroll systems.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration: Provide direction and leadership to ensure efficient operations of the Payroll function for the health system; analyze payroll system requirements, interpret payroll parameters, and set up HR payroll system data needed to process payroll and produce required payroll and fringe benefit reports.
- Leading People: Align departmental goals with organizational goals; allocate resources to meet priorities; foster a team environment by creating incentives and removing barriers; communicate common goals and how individual roles contribute to team success.

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional Experience:
- With a Bachelor’s degree: seven (7) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance.
- With an Associate’s Degree: eleven (11) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance.
- With a high school diploma: fifteen (15) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems, principles, procedures, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- No licensure or certification required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (hiring range): $51.50 - $74.01 per hour
- Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
