Interim Senior Accountant

Overview

A premier client is seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract hybrid position based in Sycamore, IL. This role focuses on supporting the implementation and go-live of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), with an emphasis on cost accounting and supply chain processes. The contract is expected to last at least 3 months with potential for extension.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on expertise in D365 F&O modules related to cost accounting, inventory, production, and supply chain management.
• Support D365 implementation activities including testing (UAT), data validation, configuration reviews, and go-live readiness.
• Understand and manage cost accounting processes within D365, including standard cost updates, item model groups, costing versions, BOM/route costing, and inventory valuation methods.
• Collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and escalate system defects or misconfigurations.
• Translate business requirements into D365 functionality ensuring cost processes align with system best practices.
• Perform end-to-end transaction flow tracing in D365 (e.g., purchase orders to invoices, production orders, work-in-progress, costing sheets, adjustments).
• Communicate effectively with IT, supply chain, operations, and finance teams to ensure accurate system setup and data integrity.
• Work independently in a fast-paced ERP environment with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Requirements

• Strong functional experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, particularly in Cost Accounting, Inventory Management, Production Control, or related supply chain modules.
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or module deployments, including user acceptance testing, data migration, reconciliations, and process documentation.
• Ability to analyze and reconcile system-driven data in D365, such as inventory balances, cost roll-ups, and cost variances.
