Interline Specialist

Overview

This position supports the organization’s interline network by serving as a primary point of contact for interline partners (carriers) and helping ensure freight moves as expected. The role involves daily audit responsibilities, partner coordination for rates and services, and support for customer service.

• Compensation: $21–$22 (based on education and experience)
• Reports to: Interline Manager

• Remote Potential: This position has the potential to be remote.

Location

Must be located in or near Bismarck, ND; Scottsbluff, NE; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Kansas City, MO; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily revenue splitting and generate reports for interline partners’ revenue
• Maintain and manage open Accounts Receivable (AR) for interline partners
• Assist Accounts Payable with interline payment and partner invoice questions
• Support customer calls and emails
• Communicate with partners to obtain approval for additional services required for pickup or delivery
• Collaborate across departments to prevent and correct potential misroutes
• Work with partner carriers to provide required documentation for invoicing
• Review splits submitted to partners to ensure charges are distributed accurately
• Review rates provided by partners to ensure they align with contractual agreements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• One year of Accounts Receivable experience desired but not required
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalities
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical, and decision-making skills
• Extensive knowledge of transportation and freight industry principles, procedures, and best practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
• Willingness to learn new computer programs to support daily duties

Work Conditions

• Ability to work irregular hours when necessary
• Generally standard office environment
• Sitting required approximately 90% of the time
