Overview

This role supports accurate revenue accounting while improving the processes behind billing, invoicing, and cash application. You will lead order-to-cash accounting work across multiple transaction-based revenue streams and help coach the team responsible for day-to-day execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the order-to-cash cycle across transaction-based revenue streams, from billing setup through cash application and reconciliation.
  • Ensure invoice, cash application, and revenue recognition processes are accurate, complete, and supported by clear control points.
  • Apply U.S. GAAP revenue recognition judgment to transaction activity and explain decisions to auditors and business partners.
  • Make routine revenue accounting decisions independently and escalate judgment calls to the Controller.
  • Coach and develop the accounting team by setting expectations, reviewing work, and building accounting knowledge.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Sales, Legal, and Finance to resolve billing questions and explain how process choices affect customers and reporting.
  • Identify manual work to remove and test automation with controls, keeping human review where accounting judgment is required.
  • Set team priorities with the Corporate Controller, document decisions, and raise risks early.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license.
  • Accounting management or team-lead experience, including coaching, review, and clear performance expectations.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP.
  • End-to-end ownership of billing, accounts receivable, cash application, or order-to-cash workflows.
  • Experience with transaction-based billing, usage-based revenue, or another model where activity drives invoicing and recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes while maintaining controls, accuracy, and audit support.
  • Comfort making routine decisions independently, with clear reasoning behind the call.
  • Clear communication with Customer Success, Sales, Legal, and Finance, including when resolving billing issues or competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or improving repeatable accounting workflows that incorporate automation or AI, with appropriate human review on judgment matters.

AI Proficiency Requirement

AI proficiency is a requirement. In this role, AI is used in repeatable workflows to review transaction data, route exceptions, or prepare reconciliations, with human review on accounting judgments.

You must be able to explain what the workflow checks, where it can fail, and how you verify the output before it changes the books or customer billing.
