Overview
A leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to join the Operations and Supply Chain (OSC) Finance team. This role supports the Naval Power Mission Area, primarily within the ESSM program, focusing on material execution finance.
This position is fully remote but requires the candidate to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). U.S. citizenship is required due to program/contractual access restrictions. No security clearance is required.
Responsibilities
- Support the creation of Estimates at Complete (EACs) quarterly, including costs, risks, and opportunities at the Program/Mission Area level.
- Analyze requirements for contractual Earned Value (EV) contracts.
- Perform detailed financial analysis of total program and mission area cost elements to understand monthly variances against budget baseline and EAC positions.
- Prepare program financial forecasts, monitor actual costs, and explain variances to plans and forecasts.
- Support cost estimate preparation for new business proposals and assist Estimating and Program Analysts in developing rationale for basis of estimates.
- Assist in developing a new RMD Material EAC Model tool suite to help other Financial Analysts develop consistent and efficient EAC positions.
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in APEX/SAP and assist with budget preparation.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience.
- Proficient with desktop computer skills, especially MS Office suite with emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with finance tools.
- Experience comparing actuals versus budget and explaining variances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and advanced formulas.
- Experience with other Microsoft Office tools such as Word and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with financial software systems.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and implement solutions and process improvements in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Advanced Excel skills such as Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, and SQL.
- Experience using SAP Business Systems (APEX, PRISM, Business Warehouse).
- Clear, succinct, and polished written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey business acumen to stakeholders without financial backgrounds.
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments and taking on new challenges.
- Experience in defense contracting finance is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD, dependent on experience, role, location, education, and skills.
