Overview

This role supports the Pricing and Risk Management team by helping identify where the organization can grow profitably, state by state and segment by segment. As the business expands, understanding how each state is performing—and why—is central to decisions around where to grow and how to price.

This is an entry-level position designed for someone curious and detail-oriented who wants to learn how analytics inform real pricing and risk decisions. AI tools are used as part of the team’s daily workflow, including Databricks Genie, Claude Code, and approved MCP connections.

Responsibilities

  • Own recurring state performance reporting on quote volume, quote-to-bind conversion, new business, premium, retention, and loss experience; investigate drivers behind changes in results
  • Analyze performance across geography, risk characteristics, coverage, and distribution channels to surface growth opportunities and segments that need closer review
  • Evaluate how proposed rate changes, underwriting rules, and shifts in business mix could affect growth and profitability
  • Build and maintain competitive research to support state comparisons and identify potential product or pricing opportunities
  • Use Databricks Genie to explore data; use Claude Code to write SQL queries, build analytical scripts, automate recurring reports, and document findings
  • Bring relevant data and business context into analytical workflows through approved MCP connections
  • Validate data, calculations, and AI-generated outputs; document sources and assumptions; raise questions early when results look uncertain or inconsistent
  • Deliver clear charts and concise summaries for Pricing and Risk and partner teams, developing recommendations alongside experienced colleagues
  • Measure performance after pricing, underwriting, and product changes go live

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships, coursework, and analytical projects count
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Foundational SQL skills and proficiency with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools
  • Experience analyzing data to identify patterns, investigate questions, and explain findings
  • Hands-on experience using AI for analytical or coding tasks (academic or personal projects count), with willingness to regularly use and build proficiency in Claude Code, Databricks Genie, and MCP-enabled workflows
  • Strong attention to detail and judgment to question and verify AI-generated results before relying on them
  • Ability to explain findings in plain language, stay curious, and manage assignments with guidance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Claude Code, Databricks Genie, or MCP connections
  • Exposure to P&C insurance, pricing, underwriting, or risk analysis
  • Familiarity with Python, data visualization, or statistical analysis
  • A project demonstrating how AI was used to analyze data, validate results, and communicate a recommendation

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of the standard compensation package and based on role and level
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability

Health & Wellbeing

  • Supplemental benefit options including long-term disability, critical illness, accident, legal, and pet insurance
  • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (most employees take 15–20 days per year), plus 8 company-observed holidays
  • Paid parental leave: up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks at 100% pay for non-birthing parents

Growth & Development

  • Career mobility and internal growth opportunities across the organization
  • Professional development budgets for certifications, conferences, and learning (subject to management approval)
