Project Accountant

Overview

This role supports proper billing, revenue, and reconciliation for projects under the individual’s purview. Project transactions must be recorded in accordance with GAAP revenue recognition guidelines and established workflow processes. The position works closely with Client Services Event Managers.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply project accounting processes and practices
• Propose project journal entries to manage project funds
• Assist with month-end close activities, including:
  • Reviewing project working capital summaries
  • Reviewing project Profit & Loss/Balance Sheet statements
  • Reviewing Percent of Completion schedules
• Prepare other ad hoc reports and analyses as assigned
• Strengthen and maintain efficiency of the revenue accounting function by reviewing processes and procedures and implementing process improvements
• Answer account management questions related to client billing
• Contribute to revenue and deferred revenue analyses
• Participate in cross-training
• Assist in month-end close process improvements to help improve close cycle time
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 3–5 years of comprehensive experience in project accounting
• Strong MS Excel skills (pivots, V/H lookups, etc.)
• Financial expertise in POC billing and GAAP ASC606 revenue recognition
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytic problem-solving skills
• Strong organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively
• Accuracy is essential; experience with efficient processes and the use of technology

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA (active or inactive) preferred
• Experience with NetSuite preferred
• Experience with project management applications/systems

Compensation & Benefits

• Maximum base pay: $65,000 - $75,000
