Overview
The Financial Analyst I supports the analysis of utilization and financial trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to forecast future revenues and expenses.
Responsibilities
- Develop, produce, and validate reports using detailed claims, eligibility, pharmacy, and clinical data
- Compile and analyze financial and clinical information, including evaluating medical contracts and product lines
- Generate and manage medical and administrative cost-saving initiatives
- Ensure data integrity and maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer information systems
- Assist in developing revenue and medical expense forecasts and budgets; monitor monthly variances to identify trends
- Identify and research trends and patterns using departmental reports, databases, and other data sources
- Recommend improvements to internal analysis processes aligned with organizational goals
- Support financial controls by reconciling internal data sets with external information such as state reimbursement records
- Analyze and report on medical, contract, and administrative activities
- Ensure compliance with MAR, regulatory, and organizational requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in accounting, finance, economics, computer sciences, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Previous experience in a financial role preferred
- Managed care or healthcare experience preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Word)
- Knowledge of SQL and/or SAS preferred but not required
- Familiarity with various analysis concepts, practices, and procedures
- Ability to perform tasks under general supervision with creativity and independent judgment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Effective communication with all levels of management
- Detail-oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively

Working Conditions
- General office environment
- May require sitting or standing for extended periods
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $54,500.00 - $87,300.00
- Salary determined by education, training, experience, role complexity, discretion required, and market data
- Eligibility for performance-based bonus
