Overview
A remote or Miami, FL-based hybrid role is available for a Senior Accountant working primarily in US time zones with a distributed team. This position involves close collaboration with executive leadership and board-level reporting within a company focused on sports prediction markets and preparing for full CFTC-regulated operations in the US.
Responsibilities
- Act as the CFO’s primary support on all accounting matters.
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Maintain clean and accurate books while building scalable financial infrastructure.
- Prepare or support preparation of financial statements such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Support internal controls and audit readiness, including working with external auditors.
- Assist with tax compliance activities, including state filings, sales tax, and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment where processes are being developed.
- Communicate financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders to provide actionable insights.
Requirements
- Active CPA license (required).
- 2 to 5 years of experience in public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition, accruals, and financial statement presentation.
- Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes.
- Experience supporting tax compliance and external tax advisors.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Clear communication skills to translate financial information for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech or similarly regulated or high-growth industries.
- Familiarity with CFTC-regulated or financial services environments.
- Experience working directly with a CFO or in a lean finance team with multiple responsibilities.
- Background in process improvement, ERP migrations, or finance automation tools.
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency consolidations.
