Senior Accountant (AP, Inventory & Cost Accounting) – Remote (United States)

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Controller within the Finance department. The role focuses on accounts payable, inventory cost accounting, and general ledger management, supporting accurate financial reporting and operational alignment in a consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Expense Management

• Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor payments.
• Monitor and respond to vendor and internal accounting inquiries promptly.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Process and review employee expense reports ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Support annual 1099 preparation and reporting.

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities including accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset tracking.
• Apply cash for customer deposits.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in monthly financial statement reviews including P&L, balance sheet, and ledger details.

Inventory Cost Accounting & Operations

• Align operational and financial inventory management practices within NetSuite.
• Manage three-way purchase order matching processes.
• Review and validate NetSuite financial inventory adjustments for operational accuracy.
• Escalate technical issues related to the landed cost module as needed.
• Support configuration of NetSuite inventory stock reporting integration with Shopify for out-of-stock mitigation.

Audit, Systems & Process Improvement

• Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation to support annual audits.
• Assist with accounting system enhancements and implementations, focusing on NetSuite landed cost module.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, internal controls, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience in a CPG environment, preferably in branded consumer goods, wellness, or personal care.
• Strong understanding of CPG financial complexities including landed costs, multi-location 3PL inventory, co-manufacturer purchase orders, COGS by SKU, and DTC/retail channel accounting.
• Experience with accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite is required; familiarity with the landed cost module, inventory management, or multi-location reconciliation is a strong plus.
• Proficiency with Airbase and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations and Commercial teams, translating financial and operational perspectives.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetSuite landed cost module and inventory stock reporting.
• Prior involvement in audit preparation and accounting system implementations.
