Overview
This role involves helping the accounting function mature as the organization grows from a smaller, founder-run operation into a more standardized, scalable business. The position is focused on building repeatable processes, technical accounting policies, and controls—rather than maintaining an existing system.

- Percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting (ASC 606): Own POC calculations and revenue recognition for long-term contracts; coordinate with project/operations teams to ensure accurate cost-to-complete estimates.
- Journal entries & month-end close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to support a timely, accurate month-end close.
- Process building & standardization: Design, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls where none currently exist, replacing ad hoc practices with repeatable ones.
- General ledger integrity: Perform account analysis and reconciliations across balance sheet and income statement accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Technical accounting research: Research and apply US GAAP to new or complex transactions; draft accounting memos documenting conclusions.
- Audit & compliance support: Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; prepare schedules and support annual reviews or audits.
- Cross-functional partnership: Ensure accounting practices reflect how the business operates.
