Senior Accountant (Finance Federal Grants) - 100% REMOTE

Overview

This position analyzes and reviews financial data and prepares financial statements and reports using advanced accounting concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology. Work is performed independently, applying applicable regulations, organizational policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting system procedures to ensure accurate application of accounting principles.
• Analyze, review, and present information and summary reports.
• Approve and verify transactions; reconcile highly complex transactions and accounts.
• Prepare complex journal and closing entries and manage general ledger accounts.
• Format, design, and prepare moderate to complex financial reports and schedules.
• Serve as a go-to resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small project teams.
• Deliver objectives with an understanding of how work impacts the results of the team and related teams.
• Utilize multiple sources of data to analyze and resolve complex problems; may take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Independently apply advanced knowledge within a professional area and basic knowledge across related areas.

Technical Capabilities

• Accounting Reporting (Advanced): Analyze and interpret financial statements and develop comprehensive reports.
• Regulatory Compliance (Advanced): Interpret and apply rules and regulations in difficult, stressful, and complex situations, including when guidance is ambiguous.
• Problem Solving (Advanced): Coach and mentor development of problem statements, current-state analysis, root-cause identification, future-state definition, and solution/action-plan development with a sustainability plan. Use appropriate tools to address issues.
• Communication (Intermediate): Communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully with employees or customers.
