Overview

This role is a full-time, remote Senior Accountant position supporting the Accounting & Finance function.

Responsibilities include supporting and overseeing core accounting operations—such as accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and tax-related accounting support—while helping maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Review and process accounts payable transactions and supporting documentation
  • Verify invoices, bills, payment records, and vendor information for accuracy
  • Maintain organized accounts payable records
  • Reconcile vendor balances and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist with payment scheduling and cash-flow-related accounting activities
  • Ensure transactions are properly classified and recorded

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Monitor accounts receivable activity and customer balances
  • Record and reconcile customer payments and receipts
  • Review outstanding balances and assist with collections and follow-up
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between customer records and accounting records
  • Maintain accurate AR documentation and supporting records

Payroll Accounting

  • Support payroll-related accounting activities and payroll reconciliations
  • Review payroll reports and related general ledger entries
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related balances
  • Investigate payroll accounting discrepancies and coordinate corrections when necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and payroll information

General Accounting & Reconciliation

  • Perform bank, credit card, payroll, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Review account balances and investigate unusual or unsupported transactions
  • Prepare and maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Review journal entries and accounting records for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify accounting errors and recommend appropriate corrections

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and management reports
  • Prepare accounting reports, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze account activity and investigate significant or unusual variances
  • Provide accounting information and reports to management as requested
  • Maintain organized records that support financial reporting and audit requirements

Tax & Compliance Support

  • Assist with tax-related accounting activities and preparation of supporting schedules and records
  • Maintain documentation needed for tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Support preparation of information requested by tax professionals, accountants, auditors, or authorized advisors
  • Help ensure accounting records are properly maintained for applicable reporting requirements
  • Do not independently submit tax returns or regulated filings unless specifically authorized and legally permitted

Accounting Controls & Review

  • Follow accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Maintain proper segregation of duties and approval procedures
  • Review accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
  • Escalate unusual transactions, discrepancies, suspected errors, or control concerns to management
  • Protect financial information for the organization, employees, vendors, and customers

Accounting Systems

  • Work primarily within the designated accounting environment and other approved accounting/business systems
  • Follow requirements related to accounting system access, information security, confidentiality, data protection, and financial recordkeeping
  • Use a controlled, role-based remote accounting environment where access is based on responsibility and authorization level

Requirements

  • Experience working in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Experience with bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • Understanding of payroll accounting and payroll-related transactions
  • Experience with month-end and year-end accounting processes
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
  • Ability to maintain confidential financial and employee information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office or comparable productivity tools
  • Ability to organize accounting records and supporting documentation effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Experience as a Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, General Accountant, Accounting Specialist, or Full-Charge Accountant
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or other comparable accounting platforms
  • Experience handling payroll accounting
  • Experience supporting tax preparation, tax reporting, or accounting compliance
  • Experience with financial reporting and month-end close
  • Experience reviewing accounting work or supporting accounting team members
  • ACCA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant accounting certification is a plus but not required
