Senior Accounting Manager, E-Commerce

Overview

The organization is seeking a Sr. Accounting Manager to oversee a pod of Accounting Managers, bookkeepers, and a book of clients. This role provides support and direction to the team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of weekly and monthly financial reporting. You will also serve as an escalation point and thought partner for clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close and all key accounting-related activities for your pod
• Review management reports with key metrics (Financial Package Review)
• Review accounting packages to ensure proper reconciliations for ALL balance sheet accounts, including trend analysis for both the balance sheet and P&L
• Conduct inventory management reviews, including:
  • Reconciling inventory (Physical, Sub to GL)
  • Reviewing inventory write-offs and obsolescence adjustments
  • Reviewing individual product costs and ensuring accuracy in inventory software and systems
• Review Accounts Receivable processing and aging reports (no collections)
• Review Accounts Payable processing and aging reports, including bill payments in Bill.com (or related software) for clients
• Review payroll processing, including journal entries and accruals
• Provide ad hoc reports or details as requested
• Oversee client communications and serve as an escalation point
• Supervise and train team members on client and administrative duties
• Help develop SOPs and training documents
• Manage the budget for your pod
• Maintain clean files and document storage
• Participate in training as directed
• Contribute to internal team discussions as a thought partner

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a multi-client or consulting role
• 2+ years of experience leading a team
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Advanced level expertise in QBO and Excel
• Experience with e-commerce clients is required
• Experience reconciling Shopify, PayPal, bill.com, etc. required
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
• Solid understanding of financial statements and how to evaluate them
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time in a remote work environment
• Proactive and team-centric attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• NetSuite and Xero experience is a huge advantage
