Senior Accounting Onboarding Specialist

Overview

This is a fully remote role.

The organization operates in the accounting and financial technology space, helping small businesses with client onboarding and financial system integration. Work focuses on streamlining setup and synchronization of accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online with other financial data sources.

The Senior Accounting Onboarding Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for new clients during onboarding. This role manages multiple clients across different onboarding stages, ensuring accurate system setup, data integrity, and timely account activation while maintaining clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily client meetings to collect financial data, clarify service scope, and build trust.
• Set up and configure accounting software accounts, resolving integration and access issues.
• Identify and communicate discrepancies between proposals and client needs to relevant parties promptly.
• Manage multiple onboarding timelines and deliverables simultaneously, escalating risks early.
• Troubleshoot setup and data issues using accounting expertise and promote transparency about mistakes.
• Use creative solutions to maintain onboarding progress despite technical challenges.
• Collaborate with Sales, Initialization, Accounting, and Tax teams to ensure smooth handoffs and process ownership.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years in client-facing accounting or onboarding roles, preferably at a senior associate level or higher in public or multi-client accounting firms.
• At least 6 years of daily experience with QuickBooks Online, including setup, integrations, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of cash and accrual accounting methods.
• Proven ability to manage over 25 active client relationships without communication or follow-through lapses.
• Warm, confident client engagement skills that foster rapport and ease.
• Willingness to address scope and pricing issues directly and correct course as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation Range: $75,000–$85,000
