Overview
A modern food company specializing in ethically sourced, premium tinned seafood is seeking a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The organization partners with fisherpeople in Alaska, California, Oregon, and Galicia, Spain, focusing on responsible sourcing, quality ingredients, and distinctive flavor profiles. This role supports commercial strategy and margin protection through detailed financial analysis.
Responsibilities
Revenue & Commercial Performance
- Lead monthly revenue reporting and variance analysis against forecast, budget, and prior year by channel, customer, and SKU.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to assess pricing, trade spend, and promotional effectiveness, quantifying impacts on net revenue.
- Develop and maintain revenue forecasts and demand models incorporating consumer trends, customer commitments, and new product launches.
- Support new product introductions with revenue and profitability analysis to guide go/no-go decisions.
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) & Gross Margin
- Manage COGS analysis and reporting, tracking input costs, co-manufacturing and co-packing fees, freight, and other cost drivers across the product portfolio.
- Analyze gross margin performance by product and customer, identifying factors influencing margin changes.
- Partner with Supply Chain and co-manufacturing teams to monitor cost trends and identify risks or opportunities.
- Create cost and margin scenario models to support pricing decisions, product reformulations, and sourcing adjustments.
Planning, Reporting & Business Partnership
- Develop and maintain the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning.
- Prepare monthly management reports and executive presentations with clear, insightful commentary.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations on ad-hoc analyses and projects, including innovation, margin improvement, and spend/opportunity analysis.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency and analytical processes, including automation and AI-enabled tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
- 3-6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Experience with ERP and planning systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and BI/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
- Deep understanding of revenue and margin drivers, including trade spend, pricing, and COGS.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, consumer goods, or direct-to-consumer/wholesale environments.
- Experience working in smaller or growing brands requiring ownership and flexibility.
- Familiarity with Cin7, Modus, and QuickBooks is a plus; relevant alternative system experience is acceptable.
