Senior Business Data Analyst

Overview

The Business Data Analyst collaborates with business teams to identify needs and opportunities for leveraging data to support business monitoring and decision management. This role applies analytics and statistical techniques to generate accurate insights through data exploration, modeling, analysis, and mining. Findings are communicated using visualizations, dashboards, and presentations to help optimize business decisions and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Engage with business leaders and staff to clarify needs, define business requirements, and propose opportunities for analysis and exploration that support business optimization and decision-making.
• Analyze complex business problems using operational and financial data from multiple sources to provide insight to decision-makers.
• Perform data exploration, analysis, and statistical inference to identify and interpret trends and patterns, and to detect influences, opportunities, and risks.
• Develop forecasts, regression models, and what-if scenarios, and provide recommendations with leaders to support strategic and tactical planning and operational decision-making.
• Create dashboards, visualizations, and reports to support business performance monitoring; automate reporting where possible to improve stakeholder access to data-driven insights.
• Produce presentations that clearly communicate insights to business leaders and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the enterprise analytics and information management team to define business needs for new or revised data models and views/access to data.
• Support data inventory and stewardship efforts, including metadata management, data profiling, data quality remediation, and data cleansing.
• Follow enterprise policies and guidelines for data security and privacy, data management, data quality, and data governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or related functional area; or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of demonstrated data analytics experience, including experience querying and analyzing operational and/or financial data, and generating and communicating insights effectively with colleagues and leaders.
• Prior experience executing analytics projects in one or more of the following domains/business functions:

  • Consumer Behavior Analysis
  • Marketing Optimization
  • Healthcare Management
• Experience building complex data queries using SQL to join, filter, cleanse, and aggregate data; understanding of how GUI-driven applications apply SQL concepts to do the same.
• Experience creating effective data visualizations/dashboards that intuitively highlight trends and patterns, and ability to monitor business performance against KPIs.
• Experience using data exploration and analysis platforms such as Cognos Analytics, Tableau, SAS, or similar.
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and relational database structures.
• Strategic skills, business acumen, and curiosity to support envisioning work, program planning, and strategic partnerships.
• Ability to analyze and document business requirements, including needs and expectations.
• Flexibility to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to stay current in the field by learning new techniques, approaches, and software.
• Expert-level skills in Excel.
• For roles that are remote (work from home) or hybrid (partial onsite and work from home): demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $63,000.00 - $108,675.00
• Eligible bonuses and commissions may be included as part of the compensation package.

• Remote (work from home) or hybrid (partial onsite at a location and work from home) is available for this role.
