Senior Financial Analyst

Overview

A growing consulting firm specializing in civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying, and construction support is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst. This remote role in the USA bridges Finance and Project Management within a fast-paced architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) environment. The position involves working closely with the CFO, operating leaders, and project managers to influence financial performance through analysis, reporting, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead ASC 606 revenue recognition analysis including percentage of completion (POC), forecasting, and contract insights
• Manage monthly project financial reviews with project managers and leadership, focusing on budget vs. actuals, margins, and forecasts
• Partner with project managers to improve project health and profitability
• Analyze work-in-progress (WIP), unbilled, and overbilled positions to enhance cash flow and billing performance
• Collaborate with CFO and operations leaders on variance analysis, scenario planning, and performance insights
• Develop dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting to support decision-making
• Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Deltek Vantagepoint to improve reporting and data quality
• Drive process improvements and standardization in project financial management

Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in finance, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or business analytics
• Experience in AEC, engineering, or project-based environments
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and project financials including WIP, revenue, margins, and backlog
• Proven ability to collaborate with project managers and influence financial outcomes
• Strong financial analysis skills and business acumen
• Experience building dashboards and visualizing data using Power BI
• Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
