Overview
The organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting. This role is based in Richmond, VA, with openness to a remote working arrangement.
In this position, you will apply technical accounting expertise, support SEC reporting activities, and help ensure financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and aligned with applicable accounting and regulatory requirements. Collaboration across finance, operations, and external advisors will be a key part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Support technical accounting analyses for business transactions, including researching accounting guidance, preparing supporting documentation, and helping develop well-supported accounting conclusions.
- Assist with preparation and review of assigned disclosures and footnotes for SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 11-K.
- Collaborate with team members, finance groups, business stakeholders, and external advisors to gather information, support accounting analyses, and execute technical accounting and reporting deliverables for assigned workstreams.
- Support assessment of new accounting standards and regulatory developments, including research, implementation support, readiness activities, and evaluation of impacts on financial reporting, disclosures, and internal controls.
- Support a strong control environment through assistance with SOX compliance, disclosure controls, and other activities related to financial reporting processes.
- Prepare clear and concise accounting memoranda, technical analyses, and supporting work papers to facilitate review and decision-making.
- Use reporting systems, automation tools, and emerging technologies to enhance reporting accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Support timely delivery of accurate external reporting through project management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Build productive relationships across finance and business functions to address accounting and reporting matters.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen governance, streamline processes, and improve reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA (strongly preferred).
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably including public accounting, technical accounting, SEC reporting, external reporting, or public-company financial reporting.
- Experience supporting SEC filings, financial reporting processes, accounting research, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance to business transactions.
- Exposure to SOX compliance, disclosure controls, or internal control activities related to financial reporting.
- Experience preparing accounting analyses, technical memoranda, and supporting documentation for complex accounting matters.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with ability to evaluate issues, identify risks, and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver time-sensitive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Commitment to accuracy, continuous learning, and delivering high-quality work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial reporting and enterprise systems, including Workiva, Oracle FCCS, or similar platforms.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary range: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00 (based on experience, knowledge, and qualifications).
