Overview

This role is responsible for building and owning the recurring financial planning and reporting processes that power FP&A. Reporting to the Senior Director, FP&A, you will serve as the analytical and reporting engine for monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, the rolling forecast mechanics, and the reporting infrastructure that improves speed and reliability.

This is a builder role: FP&A is still early, so you will stand up models, dashboards, and processes rather than inherit a mature system. Success includes running the reporting cycle on schedule without heroics, providing a forecast model the Senior Director trusts without extensive re-checking, and retiring at least two recurring manual processes through automation.

Responsibilities

Planning, Forecasting & Business Partnering (approx. 50%)

  • Own the mechanics of the rolling monthly and quarterly forecast, including model maintenance, input collection from budget owners, version control, and actuals loads.
  • Refine and maintain the annual operating plan model and support the multi-year strategic plan build.
  • Run scenario mechanics against assumptions set by the Senior Director, including growth cases, cost optimization, and hiring pacing.
  • Build and maintain cash flow and runway schedules that roll forward without manual rebuild.
  • Partner with functional managers and directors on budget ownership, spend tracking, and variance explanations.
  • Work closely with Accounting and the Controller on close timing, accruals, and actuals that feed reporting and the forecast.
  • Translate financial results into plain language for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Surface emerging risks and opportunities to the Senior Director early rather than at cycle close.

Reporting and Analysis (approx. 30%)

  • Produce the monthly and quarterly financial reporting package, including budget-to-actual variance analysis with written commentary that explains drivers (not just deltas).
  • Support the CFO and Senior Director on Board and investor materials by owning supporting schedules, exhibits, and backup with a high bar for data integrity and quality control.
  • Calculate and refresh marketplace and recurring revenue metrics, including ARR, churn, retention, CAC, LTV, contribution margin, and cohort analysis.
  • Track healthcare marketplace performance indicators such as payer adoption, platform utilization, and savings performance.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and data requests for Finance and cross-functional stakeholders.

Systems, Automation and AI (approx. 20%)

  • Build, enhance, and maintain FP&A reporting, including executive dashboards and KPI reporting, leveraging NetSuite and an FP&A planning tool.
  • Use Claude to speed up recurring work (e.g., drafting variance commentary, reconciling data, building and checking model logic, and documenting processes), applying the same review standard to AI output as to your own work.
  • Identify and eliminate manual steps in the close-to-report and forecast cycles through automation, AI-assisted workflows, and improved data structure.
  • Document processes, metric definitions, and calculation methodology so reporting is repeatable and auditable.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, transaction advisory, or a comparable analytical finance role.
  • Experience that includes contributing to a recurring reporting package or variance analysis that went to a senior audience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field required.
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA progress is viewed favorably but not required.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel, including the ability to work inside a model you didn’t build, trace formula chains, handle large data sets, and structure a model so the next person can follow it.
  • Exposure to an ERP and FP&A planning tools; NetSuite and spreadsheet-based planning tools are a plus (training available if needed).
  • Hands-on use of AI tools (Claude or similar) in analytical work (e.g., drafting commentary, checking formulas, speeding up data prep, or automating repetitive steps).
  • SQL is a plus.
  • Python or VBA is a bonus, not an expectation.
  • Some familiarity with subscription or transaction-based revenue models; cohort analysis is teachable.

Attributes

  • High accuracy with strong self-review habits; catches errors before a reviewer does.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete data; asks rather than assumes.
  • Strong written communication; can explain a variance in three sentences.
  • Curious about the business, not only the numbers.
  • Operates with urgency and follows through without reminders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to SaaS, healthcare technology, or another recurring revenue environment.
  • Payer market or healthcare marketplace experience (not expected, but a plus).
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA progress.
  • SQL experience.
  • Python or VBA experience.
