Overview

A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst. This role supports pricing initiatives aligned with firm strategic goals and involves leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enhance pricing, budgeting, and financial modeling within the legal industry. The position may be remote or based at any firm location.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative pricing arrangements, financial models, and budgets to support revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Generate financial analyses to inform pricing strategies, policies, and pricing management optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect data and insights for strategic pricing development.
  • Monitor pricing performance metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain team processes, checklists, pricing repositories, and other resources to enhance pricing functions.
  • Assist attorneys with matter planning, budgeting, pricing estimates, and tracking.
  • Respond to requests for proposals related to pricing strategies and prepare pricing estimates.
  • Conduct market and competitive pricing analyses to identify trends and opportunities, including during annual timekeeper rate setting.
  • Coach attorneys on client priorities, negotiation strategies, scope, assumptions, and risk factors impacting pricing and matter management.
  • Build effective relationships with attorneys and business professionals firm-wide.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and AI-powered tools to improve pricing strategies, automate processes, and enhance forecasting accuracy.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions supporting pricing and matter management, including AI-driven predictive pricing, cost estimation, and profitability analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to integrate pricing tools with existing systems such as Elite 3E, Iridium, and data warehouses.
  • Research AI and automation impacts on pricing models, client behavior, and market trends to maintain competitiveness.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on pricing technology, providing training and guidance to attorneys and business professionals.
  • Identify AI opportunities to analyze historical data, client preferences, and case outcomes to improve pricing recommendations and client satisfaction.
  • Support development of non-hourly and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) using advanced modeling and technology to optimize profitability.
  • Incorporate data visualization and AI-driven insights into pricing presentations and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally with major coursework in Finance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in pricing, financial or profitability analysis, or economics, preferably in professional services.
  • Knowledge of legal statistical modeling and pricing tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with computer systems and tools including Elite 3E, Iridium, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • SQL proficiency preferred.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse extraction and budgeting platforms.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AI-powered pricing and financial modeling tools such as predictive analytics platforms, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with emerging legal technology solutions including AI-based matter management, pricing optimization, and contract analysis tools.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets using AI tools or programming languages such as Python or R is preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of legal technology trends impacting pricing and client engagement efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of non-hourly and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) and technology applications for AFA implementation and tracking.
  • Strategic thinking about technology and AI roles in pricing and effective communication skills with attorneys and leadership.
  • Adaptability to evolving legal technology landscapes and openness to innovative pricing solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, location, and other legal factors. Expected salary ranges by location are:

  • California: $86,000 - $175,000
  • Colorado: $79,000 - $141,000
  • Illinois: $78,000 - $151,000
  • Massachusetts: $86,000 - $164,000
  • Maryland: $83,000 - $126,000
  • Minnesota: $86,000 - $142,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $93,000 - $169,000
  • New York: $80,000 - $173,000
  • Vermont: $85,000 - $163,000
  • Washington: $83,000 - $158,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $111,000 - $163,000

These salaries exclude discretionary bonuses, which are non-guaranteed and based on individual and firm performance.
