Overview

A Senior Project Finance Analyst role is available to manage the financial health of projects within an assigned service line business. This position involves end-to-end administration of the project lifecycle, including billing, invoicing, revenue review, backlog forecasting, profitability analysis, change orders, and reporting. The analyst will collaborate closely with internal teams to provide financial support and ensure project financials are monitored to maximize profitability and cash flow.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle administration from startup through maintenance to closeout, ensuring alignment with contract budgets.
  • Configure project and contract modules, including assigning rate sets/plans to activities and corresponding billing and revenue lines.
  • Analyze actual financial results against plans and forecasts to identify financial status.
  • Oversee month-end close processes for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance to meet revenue, backlog, margin, and accounts receivable goals.
  • Partner with Project Managers to provide financial support for projects.
  • Analyze financial results, monitor variances, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to management.
  • Review study time reports and coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate hour entries.
  • Monitor monthly compliance reports to ensure timely revenue and billing deliverables.
  • Prepare and submit monthly invoices to customers for all assigned projects.
  • Maintain internal and customer reports, including spend forecasts, project actuals, and cash flow analyses.
  • Assist with invoice backup preparation and client reconciliation requests as needed.
  • Track project financials and escalate utilization concerns and contract value limitations appropriately.
  • Perform additional country or regional accounting duties to support month-end closing processes.
  • Undertake other projects and duties as assigned within Project Finance support.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management, Life Science, or related field (US) or Bachelor's in Business Economics, Accountancy, or similar (EU/UK).
  • 3-5 years of work experience in Project Finance, preferably within a Contract Research Organization (CRO); consultancy firm experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in small to medium business environments preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience creating and submitting invoices.
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and Pivot Charts).
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and billing principles.
  • Knowledge of clinical research and/or consulting is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Workday systems is preferred.

Location

Remote work is supported; however, new hires located within a reasonable commute to an office are encouraged to work on a hybrid basis, spending some time onsite as agreed with their manager.
