Overview

Position Summary

This role prepares in-depth financial analyses and research to support timely management decisions and/or financial reporting. Responsibilities include analyzing the financial implications of business decisions and transactions, developing complex financial models, and working with departments to ensure understanding of financial consequences.

The position also supports internal and external auditors by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and implementing recommended changes. Additional duties include developing, designing, testing, and documenting system changes or upgrades, and representing Finance on corporate teams and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare in-depth financial analyses and research to support management decisions and financial reports/statements
  • Analyze and evaluate the financial implications of business decisions and transactions
  • Research, evaluate, and interpret financial data using advanced and emerging techniques and tools
  • Develop, manipulate, and maintain complex financial models to support analysis of business initiatives
  • Partner with departments to clarify financial consequences of actions
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and implementing recommended changes
  • Develop, design, test, and document system changes or upgrades
  • Represent Finance on corporate teams and initiatives
  • Support accounting activities such as:
    • Journal entries
    • Analysis and reconciliation of complex, higher-risk general ledger and bank accounts/bank accounting
    • Variance explanations and related analysis
  • Conduct high-risk, complex bank account reconciliation and analysis
  • Prepare high-risk account analysis and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Balance ledgers to supporting systems for high-level, high-risk processes

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

Experience

  • Experience as a Financial Analyst/Accountant or similar role
  • Preparing and developing financial reports
  • Using automated accounting and/or management reporting systems
  • Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting in-depth analyses of financial and/or statistical data
  • Model development and manipulation using Microsoft Office products
  • Overseeing and guiding assigned deliverables to successful completion
  • Preparing high-risk, complex bank account reconciliation and analysis
  • Preparing high-risk account analysis and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Balancing of ledgers to supporting systems for high-level, high-risk processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using automated accounting systems
  • Applying GAAP and/or Insurance Statutory Accounting Principles
  • Preparing complex journal entries
  • Preparing complex account analysis and general ledger reconciliations
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Tax
  • Experience using automated reconciliation software
  • Knowledge of the organization’s products and services
  • Experience in insurance accounting

Compensation & Benefits

Pay

  • Salary: $67,371 – $80,000 annually
  • Bonus: Annual bonus potential based on performance

Time Off & Leave

  • Paid Time Off (PTO):
    • Accrual-based; increases with tenure

    • Part-time PTO hours calculated based on standard weekly hours scheduled and accrue at a minimum of 3 hours per month
  • Paid Holidays:
    • Full-time employees eligible for 10 company-paid holidays annually, plus 1 mental health day, 2 floating holidays, and 1 volunteer day
    • Part-time employees eligible for 8 company-paid holidays annually, plus 1 mental health day and 2 floating holidays

Location & Work Environment

  • This position works from a home office location.
