Overview
A financial services organization is seeking a professional to join their team in Georgia, US. This role offers a salary range of $95,000 to $130,000 and may be hybrid or remote depending on the candidate's location within the continental US. The position will remain open until June 21, 2026.
Location and Work Arrangement
- Hybrid work is expected for candidates living within 50 miles of offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, requiring at least 60% in-office presence.
- Remote work is available for candidates living more than 50 miles from these offices, with occasional office visits as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform SOX testing and maintain SOX documentation to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Analyze and research accounting treatments for new investment vehicles.
- Complete investment general accounting activities accurately and timely.
- Interpret, analyze, and implement new FASB and SSAP regulations relevant to the Investment Department.
- Delegate assignments, review work, and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Identify process improvements and make recommendations impacting management decisions and team performance.
- Analyze complex investment data; prepare internal and external reports including SEC and stockholders’ reports.
- Lead or participate in project teams for strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead or assist in accounting and reporting of real estate owned (REOs) investments.
- Resolve transaction discrepancies and maintain accurate regulatory filings.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures in collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize systems and processes.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with business partners.
- Track departmental goals progress with Investment Accounting leadership.
- Foster a continuous improvement culture by developing KPIs, executing recommendations, and driving daily team meetings.
- Develop and maintain enhanced reporting tools.
- Support other investment accounting areas as needed.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; VBA/macro experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP, BW, Workiva, or similar accounting/financial software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and FASB standards, especially insurance and investment accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial systems, including SAP.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
- Competencies in consulting, change management, quality, and project management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Six years of professional experience in investments or related accounting/reporting.
- Experience managing projects or continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent certifications or training.
Travel
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $95,000 - $130,000, determined by factors including education, experience, certifications, and location.
- Compensation decisions consider future growth potential; initial offers may not be at the top of the range.
