Staff Accountant

Overview

The organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to keep the organization’s own books and support advisers on client assignments. This role includes preparing financial figures that owners can compare across succession or sale options. The position reports to the managing partner and is full-time and remote.

Responsibilities

• Perform the monthly close, including bank reconciliations and accruals
• Process accounts payable
• Prepare client invoices against signed engagement letters
• Prepare year-end schedules for the outside CPA firm
• Adjust client financial statements for what owners pay themselves, one-time items, and related-party expenses
• Summarize income and distributions by owner for each succession or transfer option
• Review financial information before it is placed in a data room
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• General ledger experience, including internships
• QuickBooks Online or Xero
• Excel (pivot tables, lookups)

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years in general ledger accounting, public accounting, or transaction services
• CPA, or progress toward it
• Quality of earnings or due diligence work
• Experience with S corporations and partnerships

Location & Working Conditions

• Remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States
• Work performed at a desk with prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and video meetings
• Hours follow U.S. business hours, with occasional flexibility around board and shareholder meetings
