Overview
This role involves supporting accurate financial reporting and analysis to enable informed business decisions. The Staff Accountant will ensure the integrity of financial data, drive timely month-end close processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accounting records comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Prepare and review journal entries to support reliable financial results and reporting integrity.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues through detailed analysis.
- Drive completion of key accounting activities during month-end close while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial transparency and processes.
- Develop a deep understanding of operational processes related to assigned accounts to enhance financial outcomes.
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support audit readiness and participate in special projects to strengthen controls and support business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 3 to 4 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of public accounting principles and financial reporting fundamentals.
- Experience analyzing financial data, identifying issues, and applying critical thinking to develop solutions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and results-focused with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Positive and adaptable mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and excellent internal client service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle Financial software.
- Experience in the credit card processing or bankcard industry.
- 5 years of general ledger accounting experience.
