Staff Accountant

Overview

This role involves ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures while overseeing key responsibilities such as developing and motivating a high-performance team dedicated to delivering consistent service excellence. Strategic team building and cross-training are essential to support current and future organizational goals. The position focuses on maintaining world-class service aligned with member expectations and credit union objectives.

Responsibilities

• Enter data into accounting systems and update various spreadsheets daily.
• Journalize all necessary transactions and verify that the general ledger is balanced.
• Prepare and post journal entries to reconcile daily debit and credit card settlements and ATM settlements; investigate and clear suspense items.
• Prepare and post monthly general ledger transactions, including investment and participation loan activity and schedules, prepaid and fixed asset subsidiary ledgers.
• Prepare all bank reconciliations prior to month-end close; research and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in month-end close and financial statement preparation as needed.
• Analyze and reconcile the general ledger for all assigned accounts.
• Prepare financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights and recommendations to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• At least two years of accounting experience in a financial institution preferred.
• Preferred experience with Portico, Wisdom, and other Fiserv products.
