Staff Accountant Construction (Remote)

Overview

A multi-trade contractor specializing in commercial landscape installation, concrete construction, and park construction general contracting is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. Founded in 1983 and serving the greater Sacramento area, the organization is headquartered in Cameron Park, CA.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly financial close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate job cost tracking
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure proper project billing and cost documentation
• Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Help prepare reports for management review such as profit & loss, budget vs. actual, and cash flow
• Support audits, financial reviews, and compliance documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or management

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience; construction or job cost accounting experience is a strong plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Foundation or similar software preferred
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Effective communication skills, especially in translating accounting information to non-financial team members
• Self-starter with a team-oriented mindset
• Strong integrity and accountability

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year
