Overview
A technology-driven organization focused on public health software solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its accounting function. This role involves ownership of accounts payable, payroll accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close activities. The position reports to the Controller and collaborates closely with leadership to support process improvements, system optimization initiatives, acquisition integrations, audit readiness, and scaling of the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
- Prepare and present financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with state and local tax registrations, annual reports, business license renewals, and other regulatory compliance filings.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Manage accounts payable operations including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment administration, and vendor statement reconciliations.
- Maintain vendor records.
- Assist with payroll accounting, benefit and commission accruals, and payroll-related account reconciliations.
- Calculate and record departmental cost allocations and interdepartmental expense allocations.
- Prepare month-end close deliverables according to the monthly close calendar and internal control procedures.
- Maintain prepaid expense, fixed asset, and accrual schedules.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
- Assist with preparation of audit schedules and support annual financial statement audits.
- Support revenue accounting projects including billing and collections as needed.
- Maintain accounting records within NetSuite and assist with system improvements and process efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management roles.
- Experience in SaaS industry required.
- Proficiency with NetSuite required.
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, especially technology-related requirements.
- Strong background in handling non-routine and complex transactions.
- Solid understanding of general ledger accounting.
- Experience with accounts payable, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative accounting team.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or CPA candidate status.
- Experience with bill pay processes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
