Overview

This role involves joining the organization’s HCM Managed Services team as a Payroll Specialist. The position is responsible for the accurate processing and reconciliation of payroll for UKG Pro clients, providing timely and accurate financial information while supporting day-to-day payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing, audit, and related processes for clients, including special projects and quarter and year end audits; perform basic analysis and research related to payroll processing
  • Assist the Team Lead and Manager in reconciling all inputs and outputs of payroll processing, ensuring all requirements are met
  • Build trusted relationships with client contacts by delivering exceptional client service
  • Identify areas of client dissatisfaction and escalate to the Team Lead and/or Payroll Manager
  • Maintain awareness of client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and execute work to meet their requirements
  • Develop and maintain awareness of SOC 1 controls and ensure compliance at each task performed
  • Set up and execute new payroll cycles, including any manual HR or Pay Data Entry
  • Perform pre-calculation audits by running and analyzing reports and making necessary corrections based on findings
  • Run variance reports and review payroll data accuracy, including individual transaction input
  • Perform payroll balancing by running reports, investigating variances, and determining actions for variances
  • Process prior period adjustments, including manual checks, stop payments, and reversals
  • Assist clients in preparation for quarter/year-end processing
  • Assist clients with annual enrollment, including testing and applicable end dating activities

Requirements

  • Experience working with automated multi-corporation, multi-state payroll processing, including in-depth knowledge of payroll tax and accounting principles plus wage and hour laws
  • Experience working with UKG
  • Strong verbal and written client service skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines
  • Proficiency using PC and MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel
  • Highly motivated and team oriented, with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Human Resource and Payroll experience with a Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred
  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting (or equivalent in education and experience)
