Overview
An organization is seeking a Workday Finance Business Analyst to join their Enterprise Systems team as a key partner to the Finance department. This role involves managing the day-to-day configuration, support, and continuous improvement of Workday Financials. The analyst will serve as the primary escalation point for Finance team requests and lead strategic system initiatives aligned with broader business priorities.
This position requires balancing operational support with project work, building strong trust with Finance stakeholders, and communicating technical solutions clearly to non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary Workday Financials administrator and main support contact for the Finance team.
- Triage and resolve configuration issues, user requests, and system inquiries with responsiveness and quality.
- Diagnose and resolve configuration issues across Workday Financials modules including Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses, Procurement, and Banking & Settlement.
- Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional design specifications and Workday configuration solutions.
- Support and deliver system enhancements, new feature rollouts, and process improvements from requirements through testing and change management.
- Participate in Workday semi-annual release cycles by reviewing release notes, assessing functional impact, coordinating user acceptance testing, and managing deployment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation such as configuration guides, business process flows, and training materials.
- Collaborate with the broader Enterprise Systems team on cross-functional initiatives involving Workday HCM, Adaptive Planning, Integrations, and third-party connected systems.
- Support Finance leadership on strategic priorities including process automation, reporting improvements, and scalability initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between Finance and IT to ensure system changes are delivered with appropriate controls, testing rigor, and minimal disruption.
- Manage support tickets and project tasks through a defined intake and prioritization process, proactively communicating status and expectations.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials configuration and support experience in a business analyst or functional analyst role.
- Deep working knowledge of one or more Workday Financial Management modules with the ability to independently configure business processes, validation rules, condition rules, and security.
- Proven ability to support day-to-day Finance operations while contributing to project-based work and strategic initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of navigating competing priorities and communicating clearly across Finance and IT.
- Experience in business requirements gathering, gap analysis, and writing functional design documents.
- Solid understanding of core finance and accounting concepts (GAAP, month-end close, AP/AR workflows, expense management) and their application to Workday configuration.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple requests and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative problem-solving approach with a track record of building trusted relationships with Finance business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Pro certification in Financial Management.
- Experience supporting Workday in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning and its integration with Financials.
- Exposure to Workday Prism Analytics or Workday Reporting (composite reports, matrix reports, calculated fields).
- Experience with Finance-adjacent applications such as NetSuite, RevPro, or Blackline that integrate with Workday.
- Prior experience supporting Finance teams through Workday optimization or module expansion projects.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $91,700 USD - $137,500 USD annually.
- Eligibility for equity awards and participation in company incentive plans such as annual discretionary bonuses.
