Accountant (AR/AP Focused)

Overview

This role supports Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) payment operations under the federal No Surprises Act within a CMS-regulated framework. Responsibilities focus on accurate, timely execution of assigned IDR payment workflows, including deposit detailing, cash application, refund processing, and remittance issuance. The position is operational and does not include general ledger or technical accounting ownership.

Responsibilities

• Process stakeholder deposits and execute cash application on assigned accounts within defined SLAs
• Own assigned refund processing, remittance issuance, deposit processing, or other related IDR Finance workflows end-to-end
• Document and resolve payment corrections accurately and within required timelines
• Respond to routine payment inquiries from insurance and non-insurance payers
• Maintain audit-ready records for all assigned payment workflows

Requirements

• 1 to 6 years of accounting, finance operations, or payment processing experience
• Experience in high-volume cash operations (e.g., AR/AP, cash application, payment processing, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under volume and time pressure
• Experience in healthcare, payment processing, or CMS-regulated environments is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; equivalent experience considered
• CPA not required or expected
