Accountant

Overview

This is a remote position. The organization is seeking an Accountant to own end-to-end bookkeeping and compliance for its India and Dubai entities in Zoho Books. Responsibilities include day-to-day accounting, monthly close, and preparation of financial statements, along with GST and TDS compliance for India and VAT compliance for the Dubai entity. The role also involves invoicing and payment reconciliation for international clients across multiple currencies and payment channels.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting in Zoho Books for the group’s entities.
• Close the books every month on a fixed date.
• Prepare monthly financial statements: profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Manage GST and TDS compliance on the India side.
• Manage VAT compliance for the Dubai entity.
• Raise and send invoices to international clients and follow up on emails until invoices are paid.
• Reconcile incoming payments from Stripe, PayPal, Payoneer, Wise, Razorpay, and Upwork.
• Manage multi-currency accounts.
• Support a Bring your own device (BYOD) policy for remote roles.

Requirements

• Formal accounting education/degree required.
• Solid hands-on experience with Zoho Books (please describe experience with Zoho Books).
• Ability to understand and work with accounting for both India and the UAE.
• Practical experience with GST and TDS in India and VAT in the UAE.
• Some exposure to transfer pricing or cross-border transaction accounting.
• Experience preparing financial statements and the ability to identify issues when something does not look right.
• Experience billing overseas clients and following up on payments.
• Clear written English, as the role includes emailing clients directly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Gulf clients (either through time in Dubai or through a firm in India handling UAE accounts).
• Experience at an agency, an IT services company, or a professional services firm where billing runs on retainers and projects.
• Familiarity with other Zoho suite tools, such as Expense, Payroll, or Analytics.
• Experience with Tally or QuickBooks alongside Zoho Books.
