Accountant (VUMC IT Budget & Accounting) - REMOTE

Overview

This role analyzes financial and statistical data and prepares financial statements and reports using accounting concepts, theories, principles, practices, and terminology, with occasional guidance. You will work within applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, and help ensure transactions are recorded accurately.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and summarize routine detailed data to prepare statistical and financial reports.
• Verify and approve proper recording of transactions.
• Evaluate transactions and recommend appropriate action when discrepancies exist; analyze the effects of transactions on account relationships.
• Complete and maintain reconciliations of transactions and accounts; prepare complex entries.
• Format, design, and prepare financial reports and schedules.
• Provide support as needed across the work area; additional duties may be assigned.

• Analyze moderately complex problems using technical experience and judgment.
• Apply expanded knowledge gained through experience in a professional accounting area.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Technical Capabilities

• Problem Solving (Intermediate): Uses critical thinking and process improvement to develop problem statements, define current and future states, identify root causes, and develop solutions and action plans with sustainability in mind.
• Regulatory Compliance (Intermediate): Demonstrates knowledge of applicable rules and regulations and applies them in difficult, stressful, and complex situations; interprets and explains ambiguous or unclear rules and directs others in interpreting and training on requirements.
• Accounting Reporting (Intermediate): Knowledge of general financial accounting practices and principles; analyzes and interprets financial statements and develops comprehensive reports.
