Overview

A growing automotive company is seeking a hands-on Accounts Receivable Manager to lead the accounts receivable (AR) function across reservation deposits, vehicle sales, and merchandise. This role reports to the Head of Treasury and is responsible for day-to-day AR operations, cash application, customer balance integrity, and AR close. The position also serves as the AR representative in broader order-to-cash and bank-to-book system design efforts, collaborating with Treasury, Accounting, and Digital teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash application for reservation deposits, vehicle balance payments, and merchandise sales, ensuring accurate customer and order allocation.
  • Handle refunds, chargebacks, cancellations, and conversion of deposits as customers move from reservation to delivery.
  • Own AR month-end close processes, including customer deposit liability, AR aging, processor and lender receivables, and payment processor reconciliations.
  • Perform daily and monthly AR reconciliations across payment processors, auto financing partners, and bank accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare AR-related disclosure inputs for close in accordance with company cash policies and customer deposit procedures.
  • Build and lead the AR team as transaction volumes increase, including hiring and developing analysts.
  • Establish AR policies, procedures, and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), unapplied cash aging, and exception rates; report performance to Accounting and Treasury leadership.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to AR, including payment processors, financing partners, and SaaS providers, focusing on configuration, support, and roadmap.
  • Design and document AR controls to ensure SOX readiness ahead of IPO, including reviewer sign-offs, segregation of duties, and evidence retention.
  • Maintain up-to-date process narratives and risk and control matrices as systems and volumes evolve.
  • Represent AR in order-to-cash and bank-to-book system design initiatives, providing input on integration across order capture tools, order management systems (OMS), payment processors, financing partners, ERP (NetSuite), treasury management systems (TMS), and close platforms.
  • Develop AR requirements and acceptance criteria for system changes affecting customer payments, balances, or AR sub-ledgers; lead AR-side user acceptance testing.
  • Identify and communicate downstream AR impacts of upstream changes such as new payment methods, sales channels, or pricing before implementation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of accounts receivable or accounting operations experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or lead role.
  • Strong expertise in AR fundamentals: cash application, customer deposit accounting, AR close, reconciliations, aging analysis, and DSO management.
  • Proficient with NetSuite AR or comparable ERP systems.
  • Experience operating or implementing order management systems, payment processors (e.g., Adyen, Stripe), and close platforms (e.g., FloQast, BlackLine).
  • Clear understanding of how modern AR, OMS, ERP, and treasury systems integrate, with ability to collaborate on architecture decisions.
  • Experience writing functional requirements, leading user acceptance testing, and working with IT or vendors on system implementations.
  • Familiarity with SOX requirements for AR-related systems and processes, preferably in a pre-IPO or recently public company environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with SQL or query-based reporting tools is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment where AR processes are being developed.

Location and Travel

  • Remote eligible.
  • Travel as needed for key meetings, typically not more than twice per year.
