Overview
This role, Analyst, Service-Line & Growth Strategy, develops the operating and financial analysis used to evaluate whether a specific service can work in a specific market, what it will take to launch or expand it, and how quickly it should scale. The focus is at the service-line level, analyzing demand, current performance, available capacity, staffing, throughput, and growth potential for GP, Specialty, ER/Urgent Care, Pet Resort, and other identified opportunities.
Reporting to the Director, Service-Line & Growth Strategy, the analyst translates service opportunities into explicit operating assumptions—volume, staffing, throughput, ramp, and equipment/capacity requirements—supports the business case and investment recommendation, and then compares early actual performance to the original assumptions to refine future models.
Responsibilities
- Analyze service-line performance, demand, available capacity, utilization, and growth potential for assigned markets and opportunities.
- Support specialty and service-gap assessments identifying where demand is not adequately served by the current market service mix.
- Build volume, staffing, throughput, capacity, and ramp models for proposed new services and expansions.
- Incorporate Operational Excellence KPIs, labor/staffing realities, productivity, capacity limits, and other operating constraints into service-line assumptions.
- Quantify operating requirements for proposed services, including relevant equipment, clinical capability, staffing, and capacity needs supported by cross-functional partners.
- Prepare scenario analyses, sensitivities, and business-case support for service-line investment recommendations.
- Track early results for launched or expanded services against approved volume, staffing, throughput, ramp, and performance assumptions.
- For Senior Analyst-level work: independently structure complex service-line models, diagnose variances, and refine assumptions based on actual performance.
Key Deliverables and Outcomes
- Service-line demand, performance, capacity, and growth-potential analyses for assigned opportunities.
- Volume, staffing, throughput, capacity, and ramp models defining how a proposed service is expected to operate.
- Service-gap and scenario analyses supporting decisions to add, expand, reposition, or rationalize services.
- Business-case analytical support with clearly documented operating assumptions and sensitivities.
- Early-performance reviews comparing actual service results with original assumptions and updating future models accordingly.
Success Metrics
- Accuracy and completeness of volume, staffing, throughput, capacity, and ramp assumptions.
- Timeliness of analytical support for service-gap assessments, growth plans, and investment business cases.
- Extent to which models reflect realistic operating constraints rather than theoretical demand alone.
- Quality of sensitivity analysis and documentation of assumptions most impacting service-line viability.
- For Senior Analyst-level work: effectiveness in using actual post-launch performance to diagnose variances and improve future models.
Requirements
- Experience in service-line analytics, growth analytics, healthcare analytics, strategic finance, operations analytics, consulting, or a related analytical role.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze service demand, current performance, capacity, staffing, throughput, and growth potential.
- Experience building volume, staffing, throughput, ramp, or operating models for new or expanded services.
- Ability to incorporate operational constraints and KPIs into financial or strategic models and test key sensitivities.
- Experience supporting business cases and comparing early actual performance with original launch or growth assumptions.
- For Senior Analyst level: demonstrated ability to independently structure complex service-line analyses and diagnose performance variances.
- Experience in veterinary, animal health, specialty or emergency healthcare, or another clinical services environment preferred.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience, required.
- Advanced degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, or Healthcare preferred for Senior Analyst-level work.
- Relevant analytics, finance, or healthcare strategy credentials are a plus but not required.
